October: Black, Orange, and Pink All Over
October isn't just about ghosts, foliage, and hot apple cider. It's also Breast Cancer Awareness month, and the color pink abounds.
To help raise awareness, sites and blogs across the Interwebs are going pink in one way or another. The flickr group Pink 2008, for instance, welcomes you to add your pink photos. For each pink photo you add here, Yahoo! for Good will donate €1 (one British pound) up to a maximum of €30,000. The total will be split equally between five charities in the U.K., Germany, France, Spain and Italy.
- In the UK Cancer Research UK will use this donation to fund breast cancer research.
- In Germany Deutsche Krebshilfe will use this donation to fund a breast cancer project.
- In France Association Le Cancer du sein, parlons en ! will use this donation to fund screening.
- In Spain AECC will use this donation to fund information about prevention and detection.
- In Italy LILT will use this donation to fund breast cancer research.
You can add five pink photos a day during October.
